I have not read everything that has happened shows a series of individual articles. Seems promising for content, but I wonder if the organization and the actual writing in the articles are geared more toward his own SEO on his site.

I have a video on my website that I'm jsut starting to promote, so this is very useful information.

Question - my video now pops up in a screen from my home page. It is assigned its own URL though. Should I out it on its own page or leave it as a window that pops up (for SEO, which is best or does it matter?)

Only half a dozen low PR helped a lot. It stayed high for a few weeks and then dropped off though.

Thing is some of my early vids are creeping back up the rankings so hopefully it will be even better eventually for the ones with backlinks.

I did 20 videos which were short FAQs and 'insider' vids for my industry which is carpet and rug cleaning as suggested by Traffic Geyser which I was trying out.

Hardly anyone saw them though, until.... I gave the most popular ones some backlinks of their own and then people found them as they went up the rankings in their own right.

Great post and really helpful. But it leaves me with one question, in terms of what these backlinks should actually link to.

In order to have the videos show up in the "web" results of google, should the link point to the page on your site that you have embedded the video, or somehow to the video itself?

Assuming you have already properly setup and submitted a video sitemap to google that includes the video and the link to the page that contains the video.

Great link building advice. To elaborate on one of the strategies you mentioned, doing a Google search for the keywords you're trying to rank for, and commenting on blogs or articles that rank in the top 10 can be very effective. Whether the link is follow or nofollow, this instantly puts your page within the top 10 results and in multiple positions depending on the current line up.

Another follow up on that is to then check the backlinks of these pages, particularly the top 3 results for the keywords you're looking for, and try to find other places that will link to your content too. Most of the top results for video are often compilation pages, so a simple email to the site with your vido as a suggested resource is often good enough to get you on those pages, (if your video content is good).

Totally agree. Additionally, you can get penalized for building links too fast... The best way is through producing quality content and having folks link to you naturally due to that great content.

Good article. When building links, quality is of utmost importance. This is often overlooked by webmasters and SEO's. Often you will see a site with just a handful of backlinks rank higher than one with thousands. This is because of quality and a natural linking pattern.
