ReelSEO Video Marketing: Optimizing Video For Youtube Video Sharing

    Hi,
I'm not sure how you figure youtube video dimensions. A downloaded .flv file from youtube shows it to be literally 320x240 not 360x240 or even the alleged display size you state of 425x355. And besides, the display size is not 425x355, it is 480x360.
This would suggest that youtube itself stretches(expands) the 320x240 .flv file it creates to fill the 480x360 dimension.
I think you have to either recalculate things or clarify what you're trying to say.

    Matt,

The embedded player for youtube is 423x355. They have recently added higher definition video and that player is 480x360. The post was written prior to this, so apologies there. as for 360x240 it is a 16:9 format and the suggestion here is not to use that size.

While the player on YouTube may appear at 425×355, the typical video file it presents is only 320x240 (stretched to the player's dimensions). While YouTube now offers a higher definition option, the default video size for the average viewer is still only 320x240. This smaller format is what users will see first.

You can confirm video dimensions easily by using a program or browser add-on that downloads the FLV video file from YouTube.
